Obama....Always Late...but Always Later in Republican States....

If Perry had been a Democrat Governor Obama would have called him and possibly been in Texas days ago....In my opinion Obama called him as he was preparing for the debate in hopes that he would negatively impact his debate performance.....Obama is all about Obama...every move he makes to further his reelection attempt....He is a slime ball and America is beginning to realize just how bad he is....He's got to go in 2012

Obama Calls Perry The President calls as governor preps for debate.
By KTRH STAFF

President Barack Obama telephoned Governor Rick Perry Wednesday afternoon to offer what the White House called “condolences about the ongoing wildfires and pledge federal help with firefighting and recovery.”

Obama reached Perry in California, where the governor was preparing for Wednesday’s Republican presidential debate.

The call was apparently promoted by recent fire devastation. The Texas wildfires have destroyed nearly 35,000 acres and 1,500 homes in central Texas. The blaze is widespread enough that astronauts were able to observe the damage from space.

The White House noted that Perry had already requested and was rewarded eight Fire Management Assistance Grants to help with firefighting efforts in Texas. The Republican-controlled House Appropriations Committee voted in May to cut FEMA's firefighting grant budget by $1.5 billion.

But the White House has not always been so generous - in April, the administration denied Perry's request for a federal disaster declaration after fires destroyed 170 homes across the state. That decision was eventually overturned after an appeal by the Texas governor.

Today the President called Texas Governor Rick Perry to express his concern for citizens of Texas impacted by the unprecedented fires. During the call the President extended his condolences for the lives that have been lost as a result of these events, and made clear that the federal government, through DHS/FEMA and the U.S. Forest Service, will continue to make federal assistance available to state and local officials as they fight the fires. The President also assured the Governor that requests for additional assistance, including as recovery begins, would be quickly assessed. Following the call, the President directed his national security staff to continue to work closely with FEMA, the Forest Service and the State of Texas to ensure we were making all resources available. Over the last several days, at the request of the Governor, the Administration has granted eight Fire Management Assistance Grants, making federal funds available to reimburse eligible costs associated with efforts to combat the fires. FEMA is actively working with state and local officials to conduct damage assessments and to identify areas where additional federal assistance may be warranted.
